FENGYI TAN is a women's wear brand founded in London by Tan Fengyi in 2015. Do you really understand your body?

In the relationship between "body language" and "inner strength", the brand chooses the role of clothing in this medium. Fengyi Tan further interprets the diversified form of “language”: “The current social development will make the 'language' more diversified, some related to the surrounding lifestyle, and more visual, FENGYI TAN brand I hope to express the female body through the limbs."

Why do you think about your body?

FENGYI TAN interacts with the stretch of the material and the movement of the body. The abstract clothing pattern is twisted or intertwined. The addition of metal accessories outlines the movement around the body, and the contour of the garment combines to form a Get out of the new silhouette outside the body.

In the design, choose elastic fabric to make, and the relationship between the body and the body is also the same. The former embraces the latter, and the latter presents the former's flexibility through physical movements. This is the complementary relationship. The body space is part of the body image. FENGYI TAN is a women's wear brand founded in London by Tan Fengyi in 2015. The designer graduated from the Royal College of Art in the women's design department.

Designer experience

In the summer of 2015, the designer used the elastic fabric to explore the body space as a graduate design, including vogue, iD, Dazed digital, dezeen and other magazines. Subsequently, the same-named brand FENGYI TAN was founded in London, and the brand tried to establish a relationship between body language and clothing from a female perspective.

In February 2016, continuing the spirit of graduation design, the first autumn and winter ready-to-wear collection after the brand was established was released in London Fashion Week.

In October 2016, the brand invited British dancer Eve Stainton to collaborate with Hexagon Collective to release the Spring/Summer collection in the form of an exhibition and performance in Shanghai Fashion Week.

In October 2017, the brand invited Anna Hermann, the chief dancer of the Royal Dutch Dance Theatre, and worked with Hexagon Collective and Interactive Architecture Studio to integrate the installation into the dance performance. This is the first time the brand has tried to release the series in the form of a dance drama.

In March 2018, the brand's joint artist and architect Lin Tuo, dancer and editorial artist Malgorzata Dzierzon and Renaud Wiser, composer and pioneer musician Zhang Meng brought an art called "toilet and cloud" Show.

In April 2018, the brand was invited by the Hangzhou Cloth Library to create a series of conceptual costumes inspired by modern dance with lace as the main fabric, and exhibited in an exhibition called “Lace To Meet You”.

In August 2018, the sports brand The Body Lab was founded. The Body Lab is a dance-oriented sportswear brand that extends from FENGYI TAN. It is an artistic exploration of the functionality of women's sportswear. The Body Lab focuses on limb movement and creates an inclusive body “soft sculpture” through the interrelationship between elastic fabric and female body space.

In August 2018, The Body Lab by FENGYI TAN participated for the first five-month In The Flesh performance program as a sponsor to support independent dancers and artists.

In September 2018, FENGYI TAN was selected for the official London Fashion Week schedule, working with Hexagon Collective, choreographer Gala Moody, architect Lin Tuo, and sound artist Wang Beibei to bring a fashion drama to Lunjiao.
